The Don Quixote Corp., a major discount store chain, has decided to discard the roller coaster on the roof of the Roppongi branch and, instead, install a high-tech Great Buddha.
It is said that the company, which was praying for social stability, has built a high-tech Great Buddha, which includes 3,000 light emitting diodes set into the Buddha’s head.
In the present situation—where light pollution is a significant problem—the hi-tech Buddha is likely to attract as much criticism as the roller coaster did before.
